Is SodaSlim Safe? Side Effects, Liver Reports and Who Should Not Take It
Every safety fact on this page comes from the bottle or from a federal health page. Nothing is softened, and nothing is added.
Quick answer
SodaSlim carries 138 mg of caffeine per capsule and two ingredients with published liver-injury reports: green tea extract and garcinia cambogia. The label rules out under-18s, pregnancy and nursing, and tells anyone on medication to consult a physician first. No trial of the formula has tested its safety as a whole.

Read the caution before you read the price
The label prints its own caution line and the FDA disclaimer. The sales page prints the price and the guarantee; read both there.

The bottle
What does the SodaSlim label itself warn?
The wrap prints one caution in full: “Do not exceed recommended dose. Not for use by individuals under the age of 18 or pregnant or nursing mothers. Consult with a physician prior to use especially if you are taking a medication or have a medical condition.” It also prints “Contains Caffeine” as its own line.
That is a stronger caution than many labels in this category carry, and it is printed by the people who filled the bottle, not added by a marketer. Take it literally. Under 18, pregnant or nursing means no. On any medication means ask first.
The storage line adds one more rule: do not use the product if the safety seal is damaged or missing. Check the seal the moment the bottle arrives, however it reached you.

138 mg
What side effects can the caffeine cause?
One capsule is 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous, plus up to about 3.9 mg from the green tea extract. MedlinePlus puts an 8-ounce cup of coffee at 95 to 200 mg. So a capsule is roughly a cup of coffee, taken before you have had any coffee.
FDA cites 400 mg a day as an amount “not generally associated with negative effects” in healthy adults, and adds that there is “wide variation in both how sensitive people are to the effects of caffeine and how fast they eliminate it from the body”. A capsule plus two coffees and a cola can reach that figure before the afternoon.
MedlinePlus lists what too much caffeine does: it can make you feel jittery, disturb sleep and, with heavy use, cause dependency, so you need more to get the same effect. Stopping suddenly after weeks of daily use can bring headaches, drowsiness and irritability. Effects peak within an hour and last four to six hours.
NCCIH adds the category warning: some weight-loss supplements contain large amounts of caffeine, which may cause increased heart rate and abnormal heart rhythms. 138 mg is not a large amount on its own. Added to a normal day, it can be.
Two rows
Which SodaSlim ingredients carry liver-injury reports?
Green tea extract. NCCIH: “Although uncommon, liver injury has been reported in some people who used green tea products, primarily green tea extracts in tablet or capsule form.” A genetic variant carried by 5 to 15% of Americans appears to raise susceptibility. Green tea drunk as a beverage carries no reported safety concern; the extract in a capsule is a different thing.
Garcinia cambogia. NCCIH: “Numerous reports of liver toxicity have been reported in people who were taking garcinia cambogia products.” NCCIH also records interactions with some drugs affecting the liver and some drugs affecting serotonin, which includes most antidepressants.
Two rows out of five is a property of the formula, not of one ingredient. The signs to know are unglamorous: unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, pain under the right ribs, dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes. Any of those means stop and call a clinician the same week.
If you take an antidepressant
Ask a pharmacist before the first capsule. NCCIH reports garcinia interactions with drugs that affect serotonin, and a two-minute question is cheaper than a bad week.
Rows one, two and four
What about the other three ingredients?
Green coffee bean extract. ODS says it seems to be safe at up to 200 mg a day for 12 weeks, and that it might cause headache and urinary tract infections. This capsule carries 130 mg, inside that amount. Note that the published safety period is twelve weeks; the six-bottle pack is twenty-six.
Raspberry ketone. ODS: it “hasn’t been studied enough to tell if it’s safe”. That is the whole federal safety record. There is no amount to compare 130 mg against, because nobody has published one.
Caffeine anhydrous is covered above. The capsule shell, hypromellose, is a plain vegetable material with nothing to add here.
The exclusions
Who should not take SodaSlim?
From the label: anyone under 18, anyone pregnant or nursing, and anyone on medication or with a medical condition who has not asked a physician first.
From MedlinePlus on caffeine: people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and people with sleep disorders, migraines, anxiety, GERD, heart arrhythmias or high blood pressure, should ask a provider before using caffeine.
From NCCIH on the two liver rows: anyone with a liver condition, or taking anything that affects the liver or serotonin, should ask first. And from arithmetic: anyone whose day already holds a lot of caffeine. Add the capsule to your drinks. If the total surprises you, that is the answer.
- Under 18, pregnant or nursing: the label says no.
- On any medication or with any medical condition: the label says ask a physician first.
- Liver condition, or drugs affecting the liver or serotonin: two rows carry liver reports.
- Arrhythmia, high blood pressure, anxiety, sleep disorder, migraines or GERD: MedlinePlus says ask about caffeine.
- Already drinking several coffees, teas, colas or energy drinks a day: do the sum first.
The missing study
Has SodaSlim been tested for safety as a whole?
No. No trial of this formula has been published, so no one has studied these five ingredients together at these amounts over any period. NCCIH’s general warning applies: many supplements marketed for weight loss have not been tested for safety.
FDA keeps a public list of weight-loss products found to contain hidden prescription drugs. SodaSlim is not on that list. We mention it as category context, not as a finding about this product. No certificate of analysis was supplied, so purity has not been verified by anyone we can name.
SodaSlim is not FDA approved, and no dietary supplement is. ODS puts the general position plainly: FDA does not determine whether dietary supplements are effective before they are marketed. If you have a medical question about this capsule, the right person to ask is your doctor, not a sales page and not this site.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is SodaSlim safe to take?
It is a stimulant capsule with two ingredients carrying liver-injury reports. The label excludes under-18s, pregnancy and nursing, and tells anyone on medication to consult a physician. No trial has tested the formula as a whole.
What are the side effects of SodaSlim?
The predictable ones are caffeine effects: feeling jittery, poor sleep, and dependency with heavy use. The serious but uncommon ones are liver signs from green tea extract or garcinia: tiredness, nausea, dark urine, yellow skin or eyes.
Can I take SodaSlim with coffee?
Add it up first. One capsule is about 138 mg. FDA cites 400 mg a day for healthy adults, and a capsule plus two coffees and a cola can reach that. MedlinePlus says sensitivity varies widely.
Can I take SodaSlim with antidepressants?
Ask a pharmacist or doctor first. NCCIH reports interactions between garcinia cambogia and some drugs affecting serotonin, and the label tells anyone on medication to consult a physician.
Does SodaSlim damage the liver?
Nobody has tested this capsule. NCCIH records liver-injury reports for green tea extract, uncommonly, and numerous liver-toxicity reports for garcinia products. If you have a liver condition, do not start without medical advice.
Is SodaSlim FDA approved?
No. No dietary supplement is FDA approved. The wrap prints the standard disclaimer, and the facility marks on the bottle are process marks, not an approval of this formula.
Closing
Our view
Our view is that the honest safety summary is short. SodaSlim is a cup of coffee in a capsule plus two rows with liver reports. For a healthy adult with room in their day for the caffeine, the federal pages describe uncommon risks. For anyone in the excluded groups, the label and the federal pages say the same thing: ask first, or do not start.
The label deserves credit for printing a real caution and declaring the caffeine. The marketing pack deserves none for its “doctor formulated” roundel, which names nobody who formulated anything.
If you have any medical condition or take any medicine, a doctor or pharmacist should see the panel before you take the first capsule. That is not a disclaimer. It is the most useful sentence on this page.
